CNDRA JOINS THE 2025 INTERNATIONAL ARCHIVES WEEK CELEBRATION
The Government of Liberia, through the Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA), on Monday, June 9, joins the global archival community in observance of the seventh edition of “International Archives Week from June 9-13, 2025.”
This year’s International Archives Week is observed under the global theme “Archives are Accessible: Archives for Everyone” and the local theme “Making Archives Accessible to Everyone.”
CNDRA Communications Director Kaipee Luther Newray said the event theme goes beyond digitization, highlighting the need to dismantle physical, digital, linguistic, and cultural barriers to ensure archives are inclusive and representative of all communities, as accessibility is a key priority for archival institutions.

According to him, some officials of the National Archives of Liberia will participate in Zoom discussions surrounding a wide range of perspectives on accessibility in archives, overcoming barriers to archives access, harnessing technology to enhance access, inclusion and representation in archival practices, etc., from June 9 to 13, 2025. Each session features a series of fast-paced 10-minute Lightning Talks led by ICA members, followed by an interactive Q&A, he added.
He further revealed that the National Archives has listed a number of events to mark the day, such as holding a parade, open public exhibitions from 9-13 June 2025, and an official indoor program on Friday, June 13, 2025.
The National Archives of Liberia Communications Director, Kaipee Luther Newray, indicated that the major objective is to increase public awareness of the importance of archives and records, as well as to inform decision-makers about the advantages of records management for governance and development.
