CNDRA Backs Joint Technical Commissions for Land & Maritime Borders Demarcation Between Cote d’ivoire, Guniea, Lberia and Sierra Leone

Monrovia, Liberia – The Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA) has officially endorsed the formation of joint technical commissions aimed at reaffirming land boundaries and demarcating maritime borders between Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. This initiative is seen as a crucial step towards fostering regional cooperation and ensuring peaceful coexistence among the West African nations.

CNDRA’s Deputy Director for Programs, Planning, and Projects, Mr. James T. Brooks, along with Ballah Kollie, Clar Marie Weah Event Hall Manager, represented the agency at a pivotal four-day technical meeting. Held from June 16-19, 2025, at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, the gathering brought together representatives from all four countries to discuss the vital process of border delineation.

Mr. Brooks emphasized the significant benefits of the meeting, stating that it “fortified the framework for mutual respect and peaceful cohabitation amongst Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire.” He highlighted that this collaborative effort will clearly define both ocean and terrestrial borders, a move expected to prevent future disputes and enhance regional stability.

The CNDRA Deputy Director further noted that such dialogue and mediation are essential for promoting regional cooperation, improving overall stability, and ensuring the equitable management of shared resources among the four nations. If successfully implemented, this joint summit is anticipated to significantly enhance the ability of Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, and Sierra Leone to effectively manage their respective borders, leading to a more secure and prosperous region.
