The third Cabinet Retreat held at the Ministerial Complex in Paynesville on Monday could lead to some sort of shake-up in the governance of the country as the Coalition for Democratic Change-Administration battles an inherited hard-dying economic nightmare.
When he called the retreat to order, President George Weah literally told his cabinet members it was about time to turn the wheel of governance in a more forceful and productive way in order to surmount the rather immense challenges being experienced.
“We need to go back to the drawing board at the start of this 2020. There are a lot of things that need to be discussed – we know just these few days there was this issue of fuel crises, and there are other important work of the government to be put in place. This is the best time to re-calibrate to address all of the issues,” President Weah stated.
The Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor was in attendance. Aside from that, at the assembly, also, were deputy and assistant ministers and heads and deputy heads of government agencies and commissions.
To the keen audience, the President openly admitted into ranks of ministers their new colleague – the Minister of Agriculture, Madame Jeanie Cooper who was recently overwhelmingly confirmed by the Liberian Senate.
Seated in the front row, Cooper received rounds of applauds as she was referenced by the President as to her formal commissioning that could happen anytime soon.
Meanwhile, the interactive retreat themed, “Forward-Thinking: Achieving H.E. President Weah’s Agenda 2020-2023,” underlines key areas of focus such as Coordination in Government; Performance and Reporting Results; Communication; and Teamwork. It also set the platform to discuss the President’s impending tour of the 15 counties since coming to power in 2018.
