Barclayville City Authority Cautions Against Theft, Open Defecation
Threatens Tougher Actions

Barclayville District, Nov 11, 2024 -The Barclayville City Corporation has frowned on the stealing of streetlights along major streets and communities in Barclayville, while also warning against open defecation in the City
In an interview with the GNN at his office, the City Inspector of Barclayville, Grand Kru County, Mr. Roosevelt Chea, disclosed that five of the streetlights installed in the city through a Presidential Street light Project during the regime of former President George Weah were stolen by some unscrupulous individuals who chose to exhibit bad morals towards needed development initiatives in the county’s seat.
He warned those engaged in such indecent acts to desist as he threatened drastic actions against individuals who will be caught, saying that such people will face the weight of the laws.
Also frowning on open defecation in the City, Inspector Chea is encouraging the residents of Barclayville to maintain and protect the lights. Street lighting, especially at night hours, helps to prevent automobile accidents and increase citizen’s safety.
Mr. Chea who spoke with the GNN Correspondent in Barclayvill also stressed that the insufficiency of police officers in the city is impeding law enforcement operations by the city corporation of Barclayville, leading to flagrant violations of city ordinances. .
Saying that City Ordinances are legislations enacted by the municipal authority, Barclayville City Inspector Chea intimated that his immediate boss, Mrs. Comfort Broh, is concerned about the shortage of city police officers, and as such, the Corporation is working towards addressing the situation.
He further asserted that the city authorities are lobbying for resources to recruit and train city police officers in consultation with the Liberia National Police.
