HRH Prince Abdul Aziz bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz, President of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) and chairman of the prize committee, invited partners to submit more nominations for Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development on the theme of “Climate Action” and to promote the partnerships with AGFUND to replicate and scale up the the winning projects of Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development.
This stated yesterday, 15/12/2021, at the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilization Room when HRH was giving his speech at the annual award ceremony of Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development held to honor four winners of the prize on the theme of “Ending Hunger, Achieving Food Security and Improved Nutrition, and Promoting Sustainable Agriculture”. HRH Prince Abdul Aziz highlighted AGFUND, is open to the other development approaches to serve humanity and humans’ needs and thus achieve the SDGs.

The winners of the 2020 Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development were as follows:
The winner of the first $400,000 category prize is “Jersey Inka Nziza Project” implemented in Rwanda by Send a Cow.
The winner of the second $300,000 category prize is the project “Seeds of Hope” from Palestine which was implemented by the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC).
The winner of the third $200,000 category prize is the project “Building Resilience to Recurring Food Insecurity Program” which was implemented by Ministry of Agriculture and Hydro-Agricultural Development in Burkina Faso.
The winner of the fourth $100,000 category prize is the project “Nourishing the Future Generation Through Community-Based Supplemental Feeding and Family
Backyard Gardening Promotion”, which was implemented by Noemi T.Cabaddu from the Philippines.
Representatives from UN and international organizations and the diplomatic sector, development experts, and the prize committee members attended the celebration. Besides, Her Majesty Queen Sofia, Member of Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development, Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UN Geneva), and Mr. Nikhil Seth, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNITAR, and Mr. Nasser Alkahtani, the Executive Director of AGFUND, were among the speakers of the ceremony’s opening.
