Senatorial Aspirant Vows To Seek Charles Taylor Release From Prison, But Liberians Described Him As Joker

The acting Chairperson of the Council of Patriots, and the midterm senatorial aspirant for Bong County, Menipakei Dumoe has vowed that when he is elected as Senator of Bong County he will use his representation at the Liberian Senate to push for the immediate release of the former Liberian leader, Charles Ghanky Taylor from Britain Prison.
Speaking over the weekend in the County, Mr. Dumoe said his fight to release Mr. Taylor from the UK prison is one of his many promises to the Liberian people, and the people of Bong County.
Bong County was considered as Mr. Taylor stronghold during his ‘War Days’ when he launched the defunct National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL), a former rebel group which took part in the senseless Liberian civil war that took the lives of thousands of Liberians and foreigners.
In his bid to impress the people of Bong County, Mr. Dumoe is using the detained Liberian President’s portrait on his flyers and T-Shirts, but this act was condemned by some Liberians who called on a local radio station, noting, Mr. Dumoe is a jokers he has no power to order the release of Mr. Taylor who was sentenced to prison due to atrocities committed in Sierra Leone.
Observers who spoke to the GNN on promises been made by the Council of Patriotic (CoP) executive as a ‘Mere Bluff’ only to convince his supporters who hailed from the Bong County and are diehard supporters of the detained Liberian former President, Charles Taylor.
