As Liberia enters the much-talked general and presidential elections in October of this year, matured and would be voters are gearing up to go to the poll to elect their leaders including the presidency for another six years term, but are said to be confused amid the proliferation of political parties.

Already the current governing party, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) of President George Manneh Weah has resolved to capture at all cost the second term bid for the country’s presidency comes October 2023.

Some political analysts who spoke to our staff during week revealed that the 2023 general and presidential elections will be a serious contended one, as the governing CDC is determined to win votes of the Liberian people, while the divided opposition political parties are yet to putting the political act together for the win.

However, some voters and would be voters who spoke to the GNN say they are resolute to vote for they what called ‘Change’ in the coming 2023 poll, claiming that the ruling CDC has reportedly failed them, and alleging that promises made during the 2017 poll that brought it to power are yet to be realized.

According to them during the 2017 poll, the manifesto of the current ruling party, several promises were made including the nationwide road connectivity, a promise they claimed made the Liberian people to nicknamed President Weah ‘Bad Road Medicine’, he has not justified that nicked name, one of the voters in a chat with our staff noted.

On the flipside of the country’s political coin, some Liberians who spoke to our reporters exclusively blamed the opposition political parties for their lack of togetherness, noting that with this, it will be very difficult to bring about change in the country’s political arrangement, and to politically unseat the CDC in the 2023 poll.

“What I think wrong with the opposition political parties and their respective leaders is the lack of cohesiveness and actual togetherness, with the lack of this, it will very hard to win the popularity of the Liberian people. These guys need to be their respective act together if they are to unseat President Weah”, one of the Liberia political analysts speaking to the GNN noted.

Currently we have five main political parties that are being talked about in most corridors, they parties are the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) of President George Manneh Weah, the former Unity Party (UP) of former Liberian Vice President, Joseph N. Boakai, the Alternative National Congress (ANC) of Alexander Benedict Cummings, the Liberian People’s Party (LPP) of Human Rights Lawyer, Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe, and Movement for Progress Change (MPC) of Simeon Freeman.

If these five political parties were to grouped themselves in complete solid force, many who spoke to out reporters disclose that the unseating of the CDC government will have a greater impact during these upcoming elections, but noted that with this current disunity amongst them it will very difficult.
