As Appointments Overwhelm Boakai’s Gov’t, The Man Who Broke The Tile Is Yet To Be Appreciated
GNN-Liberia has reliably learnt that the man who made news and became the third-place finisher, Mr. Edward Appleton of the Grassroots Development Movement (GDM) is yet to be appointed by the Liberian leader, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai in the appointment of his government officials.
Mr. Appleton conquered the third place during the 2023 general and presidential elections from big names which includes Mr. Alexander Cummings of the Alternative National Congress, by extension the CPP. He beat the likes of Tiawon Gongloe from a vote rich County of Nimba shown in the National Elections records of count.
During that top battle, Appleton obtained forty thousand two hundred seventy-one (40, 271 votes) constituting 2.20% of the total vote count, according to the National Elections Commission (NEC) announcing the final results at the end of the elections.
According to Appleton his decision to endorse the UP-Alliance is a result of the decision taken by the Party’s executive committee who voted 70% in favor of siding with the UP-Alliance and as head he couldn’t change that decision, noting, “We believe what the UP says they stand for is aligning with our party’s agenda and we hope the UP will carry our ideology and principles with you we believe what the UP say they stand for is aligning with our Party.”
With dozens of nominations by the Liberian leader, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s presidential file on appointment, this action on the part of the Liberian leader seems not to go down well with some Liberians and partisans of the Grassroots Development Movement (GDM).
Speaking to GNN-Liberia during the week, partisans of the GDM in separate interviews with our staff threatened a mass protest against President Boakai and his government for been insensitive of their plight, and his less attention to appreciate the level of overwhelming support given him during the just ended 2023 general and presidential elections.
Meanwhile, the citizens are protesting against GDM political leader, and further threatened to leave the GDM party, if their political does not address their concern.
