Are Wrongdoings Visible At IAA In The Purchase Of Vehicles? – GNN Investigation

GNN investigation has uncovered that some documents in its possession regarding the purchase of vehicles dating back in 2015 upward to be used by the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) shows that the commission being an integrity institutions has failed check-marked of the processing of payment request mounting to thousands dollars to vendors without voucher numbers, a situation that has been detected by our investigation with payments  made in the tune of over One Hundred Fourteen Thousand United States Dollars (US$114,000).

According to some documents in the possession of GNN Liberia, the IAA which was established to transparently carry out audits of government ministries and agencies, but its mandate seems to be contradictory as to the nature of its duties with this latest information gathered by our team of investigative reporters on the alleged fraud being committed by the IAA.

Documentation in the possession of this outlet has publicly revealed that some of the payments made to Efficient Logistic Services for the purchase of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with Van# JTED9FJ4FK016440 at the amount of Sixty-Five Thousand United States Dollars (US$65,000.00) on January 20, 2015 contradicts the IAA, with information gathered from the manufacturer revealed that the vehicle in question was not purchased on the date mentioned, noting that it was manufactured the same time IAA claimed that it purchased the vehicle.

The ‘Hand To Hand’ Bill of Sale in GNN possession, and produced by the Efficient Logistic Services to the IAA said, “Efficient Logistic Services has delivered the following vehicles to the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) Chassis and Engine Numbers: Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with Van# JTED9FJ4FK016440,” the Hand to Hand Bill of Sale dated on January 20, 2015 noted.

According to GNN source, a payment of Twenty-Two Thousand United State Dollars (US$22,000.000) with check number: 000000-11, and was verified by the current Director General, Emmanuel B. Nyeswa was paid to the Efficient Logistic Services on March 8, 2016 without voucher number, this amount, according to the document was  for “Car Rental”.

Another payment made on December 16, 2016 in the amount of Fifteen Thousand United States Dollars (US$15,000.00) with check number: 0000-97 was also paid to this car rental services without voucher number; several other payments in the possession of the GNN showed no payment voucher, a situation that baffled many Liberians to questioned the sincerity of the current management of the IAA which supposed to be an integrity institution.

Documents also in GNN Liberia possession has indicated that IAA management team is reportedly in the know of all of the alleged irregularities regarding the ‘Untagged’ payments vouchers that are expected to be published in our subsequent posting in our widely browse website.

All efforts by the GNN to contact the Director General of the institution Mr. Emmanuel Nyeswa and others including the Financial of the IAA to ascertain the facts surrounding the alleged ‘Fraud’ at that institution proved unsuccessful. However, Investigation continues.
