The Liberian presidency is said to be overwhelming with dozens of protests in demand of delayed salary payments, this morning hundreds of students from the state-run University of Liberia (UL) have gathered this morning at the entrance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the office of the Liberian presidency in demand of delayed salaries of their professors.
Few days ago, students of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) stormed the same location in demand of their teachers’ salary payments, this protest turned bloody as dozens of them were wounded allegedly by riot police and officers of the presidency security guard service, the Executive Protective Service (EPS).
Many of the wounded students who took part in the Tuesday, October 14, 2019 protect are said to be taken treatment at various medical centers in Monrovia and its environs d, while the government has disclosed that salaries of teachers are now been deposited at their respective accounts.
Yesterday, professors and other teaching staff of the University of Liberia staged a protest with many of the classes on the campus of the University were completely flattened as a result of their go-slow on the campus.
In a related development, the President of the University of Liberia Dr. Ophelia Weeks has been dismissed by the Liberian leader, President George Weah and replaced with Dr. Julius Sawolo Nelson.
