ALJA Mourns Death Of Journalist Patrick Manjoe

Late Patrick Kolubah Manjoe

The Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA) is deeply saddened by the homegoing one of Liberia’s renowned broadcasters and journalist, Mr. Patrick Kolubah Manjoe, which sad event occurred on Friday, January 13, 2023 after a protracted period of illness. Mr. Manjoe distinguished himself as a broadcaster for many years at the state-owned Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) and also mentored many others in the journalism profession.

In 1998, Mr. Manjoe was among several of his media colleagues in the United States at the time who recognized the need for an organization that would champion the cause of press freedom in Liberia through media advocacy, logistical support, and training; while also promoting the principles of good governance. Hence the birth of the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA)

In 2020 during our National Convention held virtually as a result of the Covid 19 epidemic, the Association paid tribute to Mr. Manjoe for his pioneering role in helping to shape the media landscape for the better and for inspiring so many in the profession. Patrick’s contributions to the media are indelible and it’s fair to say that the Liberian media has lost a treasure.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, the National Executive Committee, and the entire membership of ALJA, I extend sincere condolences to his wife, Mrs. Gwendolyn Manjoe, and the bereaved family for this irreparable loss. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
