Ahead Of November 14 Run-off Election, Endorsements Overwhelm UP, CDC
As the electoral commission of Liberia, the National Election Commission tangles with constitutional crisis on the change of the date of the presidential run-off which was earlier scheduled from November 7 to the 14, 2023, the two main presidential candidates, Incumbent President George Manneh Weah of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), and the Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai of the opposition Unity Party (UP), several supporters of other political parties who have lost during in the first round of the election have begun endorsing their preferred choice.
The most recent is the Chairman of the All-Liberian Party (ALP), Theordore Momo Jr, and former Senator of Gbarpolu County and River Gee County Senator who is also the team mate of President Weah, Johnathan Sogbie have endorsed the presidential bid of Unity Party Standard Bearer, Ambassador Joseph Nyuma, this followed after the Liberian People’s Party (LPP) and alone with their political leader, Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe r made their endorsement.
Speaking in separate remarks, both Theodor Momo, Chairman of ALP, and Senator Sogbie said as Opposition they have taken the decision to support Unity Party to Rescue the Country.
Senator Sogbie, a member of the Alternative National Congress, stated that there is no need to negotiate before endorsing an Opposition Party that he is a part of.
Last week the controversial talk show host, Henry Costa and Eddith Gongloe-Ware, sister of LPP political leader, Tiawan Saye Gongloe, also the Youth Wing of the Alternative National Congress (AN) endorsed the presidential bid of the ruling CDC, George Manneh Weah.
In a related development, the Standard Bearer of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), Alexander Benedict Cummings is expected soon to announce his choice, and endorse the candidacy for the run-off
