Monrovia, Liberia — April 30, 2025 — In a major milestone for the African Liberation League (ALL), the County Chairs (CC) of the party have elected their first-ever national leadership team under the newly established Code of Officers. The historic election took place on April 27, 2025, and marks a significant step toward strengthening grassroots political organization and national unity.
The elected officials include:
- Jackson W. Williams Jr., Chair-of-Chairs – CC/ALL, Maryland County
- Musu N. Sagbeh, Co-Chair – CC/ALL, Bong County
- Sumoward N. Zanney II, Secretary General – CC/ALL, Gbarpolu County
- Boima Monubah, Religious Advisor (Chaplain) – CC/ALL, Grand Cape Mount County
- Fred Paul Yancy, Political Advisor – CC/ALL, Sinoe County
In an interview with GNN-Liberia News on April 30, Mr. Williams, who was unanimously elected as the Chair-of-Chairs, expressed deep gratitude for the confidence placed in him. Recalling key moments in the party’s development, he highlighted the significance of the second ALL convention in Kakata, Margibi County, in June 2023, where Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti—now serving as Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs—was elected a senior political leader of the party.
Mr. Williams also reflected on the April 12, 2025, gathering in Monrovia, where chairs from all 15 counties met with the National Policy Council, ALL’s highest decision-making body. “It was at that meeting that we laid the groundwork for this leadership structure, as outlined in our constitution,” he noted.
When asked about his vision, Mr. Williams emphasized communication as a cornerstone of progress. “One of our first priorities is to establish a strong, reliable line of communication across counties to ensure we are promoting reconciliation, peace, unity, and love,” he said. He added that through this channel, they will also foster closer ties with the National Policy Council and align county initiatives with the national agenda.
Addressing how he plans to balance his responsibilities as chair-of-chairs with the specific needs of Maryland County, Mr. Williams affirmed their commitment to “efficiently and effectively,” in making the party one of the best in the country.
Looking ahead to the first 100 days in office, he disclosed plans for a leadership retreat in May, possibly in Ganta or Gbarnga, where key strategies and concerns from across the counties will be addressed. Among the top priorities are the establishment of operational offices in all 15 counties and enhancing collaboration with members of the Unity Party alliance and other political parties.
He described the election process as “well-structured and reflective of the core values of the African Liberation League.”
On the issue of representation, Mr. Williams emphasized ALL’s grassroots identity. “We’re engaging all sectors—from the business community to students, religious groups, motorcyclists, people with disabilities, and traditional leaders. Our goal is inclusivity,” he stated. He praised the national youth council’s efforts to launch student chapters in high schools and universities to ensure that no demographic is excluded.
Mr. Williams voiced his enthusiasm for working with Co-Chair Musu N. Sagbeh and the entire team, underscoring the importance of consensus-building and collaboration. He also praised the advisory roles of Chaplain Boima Monubah and other leaders in fostering unity and inclusion.
As a founding member of ALL in Maryland County and a student of public administration, Williams said his background has prepared him for this leadership role. He concluded by affirming the new leadership’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
“The public will be able to hold us accountable,” he affirmed. “This is not just a political group—we’re building an institution for future generations.”
Under the banner “The Nation Builders,” the African Liberation League’s County Chairs are poised to make a significant impact on Liberia’s political landscape.
