Monrovia, Liberia – June 15, 2026 – ActionAid Liberia is pleased to announce the arrival of the Secretary General of ActionAid International, Arthur Larok, who has commenced a week-long working visit to Liberia aimed at strengthening partnerships, assessing program impact, and advancing dialogue on sustainable development, gender equality, youth empowerment, climate justice, and locally led development.
Mr. Larok arrived in Liberia on June 15, 2026, and will spend the week engaging with government institutions, civil society organizations, international development partners, youth movements, and community-based organizations. The visit reflects ActionAid International’s continued commitment to supporting national development efforts and strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders across Liberia.
The visit will provide an important opportunity to review the achievements and challenges of ActionAid Liberia’s work, assess the impact of its programs and projects, and explore new opportunities for partnership, resource mobilization, organizational growth, and institutional strengthening.
As part of his itinerary, Mr. Larok will, on June 16, 2026, pay courtesy visits to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the European Union Delegation to Liberia. He will also engage with representatives of civil society organizations during a networking and partnership meeting aimed at strengthening collaboration and collective action.
On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the ActionAid International Secretary General will hold bilateral meetings with United Nations agencies and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) operating in Liberia. Discussions will focus on how development partners can collectively contribute to national development priorities through stronger coordination, sustainable partnerships, and efforts to shift power and resources closer to local actors and communities. The engagements will also seek to strengthen collaboration between the United Nations Country Team and ActionAid International in advancing sustainable development, gender-responsive programming, and civic accountability.

On Thursday, June 18, 2026, Mr. Larok will engage with youth-led movements and community actors, including the Federation of Liberian Youth, District Feminist Movements, Activista Liberia, the Young Urban Women’s Movement (YUWM), climate justice advocates, and members of community-based organizations within the ActionAid network.
The engagement will create a platform for young people and grassroots actors to share their experiences, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. It will also provide an opportunity to explore stronger partnerships between ActionAid International, ActionAid Liberia, and youth-led organizations to promote joint action, coordination, and shared impact.
Additionally, the discussions will focus on identifying practical pathways for shifting power, resources, and decision-making to youth-led actors in support of sustainable, inclusive, and just development outcomes. Through these engagements, ActionAid International will reaffirm its commitment to feminist leadership, human rights, social justice, climate justice, and locally led development. The visit also seeks to strengthen alignment with Liberia’s national development priorities while advancing women’s rights, youth empowerment, and community-driven solutions for a more equitable and sustainable future.
The visit will culminate in a media briefing on June 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the ActionAid Liberia Country Office in Tarr Town, Old Road, Monrovia. During the briefing, Mr. Larok will share insights from his engagements, highlight key outcomes of the visit, discuss the future direction of ActionAid International and ActionAid Liberia’s work in the country, and outline opportunities for deeper collaboration with stakeholders.
