(Monrovia, Liberia, February 13, 2025) โ€“ The Ministry of Health today received a significant donation of medical equipment from the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia.

The donation includes a Z50 Portable Mindray Ultrasound Machine with a trolley and ultrasonic probes.

Receiving the ultrasound machine, Deputy Minister for Health Services/Chief Medical Officer of Liberia, Dr. Catherine T. Cooper thanked the Government and People of China for the donation and the unwavering support of the Government of the People’s Republic of China in strengthening Health Care Delivery in Liberia.

She emphasized that the Ultrasound Machine will be used to improve Diagnoses and treatment outcomes for Pregnant Women in Rural Liberia.

Also speaking during the handover ceremony, the Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, H.E. Ying Chengwu reaffirmed the Chinese governmentโ€™s commitment to supporting Liberiaโ€™s healthcare sector. He noted that the donation aligns with Chinaโ€™s ongoing efforts to assist the Liberian government in advancing its Arrest Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) and expressed hope that the equipment would be utilized effectively to improve maternal healthcare in Liberia.

In closing, he expressed his gratitude and satisfaction for the ongoing collaboration between the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Monrovia and the Ministry of Health and emphasized that Health should be a bridge and not a barrier.

The Ministry of Health remains committed to strengthening partnerships and improving health Service Delivery.
