VOINJAMA, – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has turned over two newly-constructed modern annexes to the Lofa County Community College (LCCC) located on the outskirts of Voinjama City, the capital of the county.
The construction of the annexes was implemented by USAID under its Sustainable High Impact Infrastructure for Education and Agriculture with funding and support from the United States Government.
The turnover ceremony was held on the main campus of the LCCC recently and attended by officials of the USAID Country Office, stakeholders in Lofa County and staff and students of the college.
The annexes contain four sections hosting a laboratory for testing agriculture produce, offices, bathrooms and corridors at the LCCC.
Presenting the keys to the annexes, USAID Liberia Mission Director, Anthony Chan, said the facilities would help better prepare students of the LCCC for laboratory testing, especially those studying agriculture.
Receiving the keys, LCCC president Dr. Samuel Kpehe Ngaima lauded USAID for the project, noting that the level at which USAID continues to support the LCCC in programs of agriculture and education cannot be overemphasized.
Dr, Ngaima appealed to USAID to help the college’s nursing department with some desks, books and nursing equipment.
In remarks, Lofa County Superintendent William Tamba Kamba also lauded USAID for constructing the modern annexes on the LCCC campus, describing it as a big boost to learning at the College, especially in the agriculture sector that is a top priority of President George Weah’s pro-poor government.
Kamba attested that USAID has continued to support the government of Liberia, especially the promotion of the Pro-poor Agenda of the CDC-led government.
Meanwhile, Kamba has promised that the modern facility constructed by USAID would be managed and protected to ensure a smooth learning environment for students attending the college.
