LIBERIA: “United Nations is all Without Discrimination” – Says UN WOMEN Country Representative

UN Women Country Representative Madam Comfort Lamptey said United Nation is for all, without discrimination, speaking yesterday at the United Nation day October 24, 2022 at the Monrovia City Hill

“Madam Comfort said the United Nation will continue to play a key role in the world, as an organization in the world, United Nations continue preach  peace, human rights and  rule of law  without discrimination”

Madam Lamptey expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Liberia under leadership of President George M. Weah and his   government continues support to celebration of the United Nation day as a .founding member of the United Nation. She said

Meanwhile, madam comfort Lamptey said UN Women will continue to implement development activities to organizations to empower women and girls in Liberia.

“Our work is to support the activities of the government in assisting women and girls for an improved standard of living in Liberia”.

“We can assure you of UN Women’s unflinching commitment to collaborate in all areas that would bring empowerment to women and girls,” she said.

Madam comfort Lamptey said UN Women is currently   working to promote women’s rights and gender equality at the level, UN women helping women in Health, education and financial support to women in Liberia including economic empowerment.

She said UN Women is currently assisting in women in good governance, peace building and gender-based violence and security in the rural areas

According to   madam comfort, UN Women is improving the welfare and empower women and girls form the rural areas in farmer

Meanwhile, Madam Comfort Lamptey UN Women began operations in Liberia in 2004, collaborating with the UN System, line government ministries, implementing partners, women’s groups as well as Liberians from all walks of life to promote gender equality and women empowerment.

UN Women Liberia’s strategic direction is tailored towards helping address issues affecting women and girls through five thematic areas, include women economic empowerment.

She said UN WOMEN educate women in peace building, security, and humanitarian action, ending violence against women and girls; women’s political participation in leadership; and gender-responsive planning and budgeting

“UN Women is currently working with the government of Liberia renewed drive   achieve goals in the set in the pro-poor Agenda for prosperity and development” she stated.

She pointed out that the spotlight initiatives target countries such as Cape Mount and Bong Counties, for women who are making farm in these   counties, Madam Comfort noted UN Woman is working with strategy in order to eliminate Gender based violence in Liberia

“We salute young rural women in Liberia for their role and contribution to enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security and eradicating rural poverty”
