U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris should meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference later this week as The Hill reported citing senior officials in the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden.

According to the official, Harris will give a speech at the conference on Russian threats to Ukraine. The vice president is expected to use the remarks to argue that a Russian invasion of Ukraine would weaken Russia and outline the broader implications of the crisis for the European and international order.

The meeting with Zelensky is one of several that Harris will hold with leaders at the global security conference.

The vice president will arrive at the conference in Munich on Friday. She plans to speak with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and the leaders of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia as a White House official said.

A second administration official said her meeting with Zelensky will take place Saturday. She is also expected to speak with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who was recently in Washington for talks with Biden.

This year’s security conference will be held Feb. 18-20 at Munich’s Bayerischer Hof Hotel.
