Update: ALICOR VP For Operations Suspended For Forgery, As PUL Plans Expulsion

Prof. Weade Kobbah-Boley,

Mrs. Weade Kobbah-Boley, a professor at the University of Liberia has accused two individuals believed to be members of the Association of Liberia Community Radio (ALICOR) of forging her signature on May 18, 2019 on a check valued at Five Hundred United States Dollars (US$500.00) for withdrawal at the International Bank.

According to Professor Boley, Lawrence Togba and Thomas Flomo, aliases Diamond C. Flomo of ALICOR facilitated by Prince Guwor of Kings FM criminally forged her signature, and were apprehended by the bank authority, while one person who was turned over to the LNP.

Mr. Lawrence Togba who is alleged to be the principal forger who is the current Vice President-elect of the Association of Liberia Community radios; ALICOR a principal recipient of USAID funds through Internews has serious ramifications for USAID’s support to media institutions, Prof. Boley in a communication to the GNN noted.

The three alleged forgers are expected to appear in court tomorrow, “Personally, I have lost three days of work and will not relent until this matter is resolved. What is even more frustrating is that family members of these persons are not looking at the criminal nature of their actions and are instead harassing me at my home by appearing there unannounced at ungodly hours. If that check had been encashed and I was implicated in the theft, though innocent, It would be headline news by now.  Trust me I will fight until we weed out all unscrupulous people from the Liberian media and save the integrity of a profession I have dedicated my life to develop,” Prof Weade Kobbah-Boley in her communication stressed.

Speaking to the GNN, the President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Charlies Cuffy said he is aware of the report, and noted that the acting Vice for Operations of ALICOR, Lawrence Togba has already been suspended by the leadership of ALICOR, while at the same time, Mr. Cuffy said the journalist involved, Mr. Lawrence Togba who recently elected as Vice President of ALICOR will also be expelled from the Union for his alleged criminal act.
