Shortage Of Gasoline Problem Still Unresolved, As The Three Million Gallons Expected Only Half Arrived
Addressing journalists today in a rather disappointing state, Liberia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Professor Wilson K. Tarpeh said the expected three million gallons of gasoline expected today only half of that number has arrived in the country.
The Minister who sounded disappointed, however assured Liberians that half of the amount is expected to be in the country over the weekend, and further noted that more of the products will be in the country next week. Professor Tarpeh also expressed thanks to Total Liberia and other importers of the products for their support for the immediate arrival of the products in the country.
Over the past few days the shortage of the products has been a serious problem for many commuters, including the general public many of whom had to spent triple of the amount being charge by petty traders for a gallon of gasoline.
At many selling points on the sidewalk, a gallon of gasoline is sold at One Thousand Nine Hundred Liberian Dollars instead of the Commerce Ministry regulated pump price at Six Hundred Dollars and Five Cent Liberian Dollars.
Since the reported arrival of gasoline by the Ministry of Commerce, hundreds of drivers are on a daily basis queued out to get a gallon of gasoline.
