Seven Turkish Soldiers Killed in Clash with Syrian Kurdish Fighters

ERBIL — A total of seven Turkish troops were killed in clashes with the Syrian Kurdish forces as Ankara continues a massive military operation against the People’s Protection Units (YPG) since January 20.

Turkish military also confirmed that five of their killed soldiers were targeted in a counterattack on a Turkish tank.

According to Ankara, Turkey has so far lost 14 soldiers since the beginning of its offensive, dubbed “Olive Branch”.

Turkish army later claimed its fighter jets had targeted the positions from where the attack against its tanks were carried out.

Earlier the day, medical authorities in Afrin said that at least 150 civilians have thus far lost their lives as a result of the Turkish shelling and airstrikes. Another 298 civilians were wounded.
