A member of the Liberian Senate is warning the CDC-led government not to misuse the World Bank loan provided to it to fight the current COVID-19 crisis, and further urged that the amount be used wisely, and not as was previously done with the Ebola funds during the former Unity Party-led government.
Senator Sando Johnson of Bomi County in an exclusive interview with a local radio station, OK FM on Monday, April 13, 2020 further disclosed that the World Bank has provided an advance of Six Million United States Dollars of the Sixteen Million Dollars to the government, but expressed fear that if the government is not warned similar mistake of the past will be done.
The Bomi County lawmaker said he is given this early warning to the government due to its usual habit of spending money carelessly at the disadvantage of the majority, noting, “ It is important to speak on this issue, as you may be aware this government is noted of careless spending; I pray that this money being provided will be used for its intended purpose,” Senator Johnson said.
