The office of Bong County Senator Dr. Henrique Flomo-Tokpa has expressed serious frustrations over the slash in subsidy coming to the Phebe Hospital from the national budget.

Mr. Cassius Kpoeh speaking on one of local community radio Stations in Gbarnga, Monday November 19, 2018 said the 1.8Million US Dollars allotted to Phebe Hospital is a serious slap in the face of the administration especially the medical Director Jefferson Sibley who continues to cry for support to the center.

Recently at the County Council Sitting, Phebe was not captured in the allotments on grounds that it is receiving funding from the National government, a situation that has drawn the attention of local citizens in the County.

In response to the continual calls from the citizens’ quest for the Phebe Hospital, Bong County project specialist Thomas Cisco said though the name of the hospital was not mentioned at the sitting but $79,000US Dollars was later allotted to the health center.

Mr. Kpoeh said though Phebe Hospital is half private and government, the need for huge budgetary allocations must be supported in the CDC-led government.

He said Senator Tokpa is committed to ensuring that the slash in budgetary support from national government is keenly addressed upon his return from the United States early December.

Mr. Kpoeh said though the hospital is being partly supported by the Lutheran Church in the world but the health needs of the Liberian citizens remain a major factor to Dr. Sibley and his team.

The Senator Office staff was speaking in the wake of mounting speculations that Phebe Hospital risks closure due to several hindrances ranging from the lack of adequate drugs supply.

He called on the Hospital administration to remain functional as efforts are underway by Dr. Tokpa to providing some medical supplies to the hospital shortly.

Cassius is meanwhile calling on social media commentators to help appeal to central government increase the hospital subsidies and said his Boss Senator Tokpa is eager to improving health conditions of the Liberian people mainly Bong county.

According to the medical Director Jefferson Sibley Phebe Hospital is currently out of essential drugs to cater to patients attending the center a situation that poses serious threats to the professional works of health workers.
