President Weah Receives Letter of Credence from Indian Ambassador

The Liberian leader, President George Manneh Weah has hailed the long outstanding relationship between Liberia and the Republic of India, noting that both countries and their peoples have more to benefit from the diplomatic ties.

The Liberian leader said he was hopeful that relations will grow stronger and firmer in the years ahead between the two countries.

The President made the remarks Friday, March 8, 2019 when he hosted India Ambassador Sailas Thangal who presented his letter of credence as India’s new Ambassador to Liberia.

He said Ambassador Thangal’s presentation of letter of credence was indicative of the two countries’ willingness to elevate their long cherished relations to higher heights in the interest of their governments and peoples.

Making remarks, Ambassador Sailas Thangal said Liberia and India stands ready to reap the benefits of their traditional diplomatic ties and cooperation demonstrated over the years on the international stage.

Ambassador Thangal said the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind and his government look forward to Liberia in promoting a common vision on the international platform towards the achievement of a common objective that would benefit the people and governments of both countries.

The Indian Envoy, Sailas Thangal expressed his government’s commitment in working with President George Manneh Weah and the Liberian government to achieve the country’s development framework, the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.

He commended President Weah and the Government of Liberia for condemning the terrorist attacks on India that left nearly 40 Indian soldiers killed.
