PFL, James A. A. Pierre Judicial Institute Start Training of Trainers. Workshop For Clerks and Bailiff

Prison Fellowship Liberia and James A.A Pierre Judicial Institute Record Management Program have begun a four days with Clerks and Bailiff of Court Training of trainers’ including prison authorities’ workshop in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The four day intensive training workshop which is ongoing in Gbarnga is targeting participants from Bong, Nimba and Lofa Counties including Courts and Prison authorities with funding from the Open Society Initiative for West Africa.

It aims at strengthening the Justice Reform and Rule of Law through Court Record Management System with at least fifty Participants from three Counties.

Prison Fellowship Liberia seeks to provide help and healing for prisoners throughout the country, with the help of volunteers, education and restorative justice program, monitoring and legal assistance is available to inmates. In addition, PFL is active and successful in seeking the release of pretrial detainees in Liberia through its mediation programme that run in partnership with East-West Management Institute.

Speaking to this Paper at the start of the training in Gbarnga, Prison Fellowship Liberia, Chief of Party, and Rev.Francis S.Kollie stated that the four day workshop is intended to enhance Magistrates, court worker including Justice Actors about the Court Record Management System at their respective areas of assignments.

The PFL Chief of Party further stated that the over crowdedness of Prison facilities across Liberia is due to poor record management system adding that those that imprison doesn’t have a speedily trial, something he described as major barriers  facing the  Justice System in the Country.

Rev Kollie said imamates record in various prison centers across the Country had not properly managed.

Rev.Francis S.Kollie said with the cluster trainings currently ongoing across the Country, Court workers including justice actors will be able to understand the important of managing inmate’s records and speedily adjudication of cases.

Rev. Kollie at the same time cautioned participants of the Workshop to make a maximum  use of the knowledge been taught at the four days training noting that    justice delay is justice denial.
