Minister McGill Commits Gov’t To Providing $300K To ULAA In 2023
OLiberia’s Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill, says beginning 2023, the Liberian government will make an annual budgetary allocation of US 300 thousand dollars for the support of the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas(ULAA).
Minister McGill spoke last evening in the City of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at a ULAA fundraiser event.
What’s your take on this pronouncement by Minister McGill?
1. As a 501c(3) nonprofit organization, should ULAA accept annual budgetary support from the Liberian government? If yes, why? If not, why?
2 Will accepting monetary support from the Liberian government create conflict of interest for the organization?
3. Wouldn’t government’s annual budgetary support to ULAA compromise the organization’s stance in addressing national problems such as brazen corruption in the government and the lack of rule of law that are affecting the lives of Liberians?
