This week, GNN-Liberia is pleased to profile Liberia’s new Minister of Public Works, Mobutu Vlah Nyenpan, is professional and academic credentials will be highlighted in the profile of this respected and youthful Liberian who was recently confirmed by the Liberian Senate to serve his Country as Cabinet Minister.
Minister Nyenpan is recipient of Bachelors of Art Degree in Civil Engineering from in 1996 T. J. R Faulkner College of Science and Technology at the University, in 2016 received Bachelors of Law (LLB) from the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law at University of Liberia, and in 2017 he obtained Master of Arts (MA) in International Relations Prospective Graduate from Ibrahim Babangida Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Liberia.
Minister Nyenpan is one of Liberia’s committed civil servants who has spent more of his life contributing to the growth and development of Liberia and improving the lives of its citizenry.
As his academic background flipped into civil engineering, his placement at the Ministry of Public Works will indeed infuse in more dynamism in the performances of that very important government institution for the huge benefits of Liberians who over the years have been opting for improved farm to market roads.
Due to his commitment to the wellbeing of his fellow compatriots, the new Minister of Public Works in 2006 was elected to the Liberian Senate as Senior Senator for the people of Sinoe County; the southeastern part of Liberia. He served the people of his home County from 2006 to 2015 diligently and patriotically. At the Senate Minister Nyenpan served as Chairman of the Sinoe County Legislative Caucus from 2006 to 2013, and also served as Member of the ECOWAS Parliament from 2010 to 2015.
Minister Nyenpan who has a vast experience in the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in
2016 served as Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Internal Affairs as Inter-Governmental and Non-Governmental Affairs.
Other respectable positions served include Deputy Managing Director for Administration at the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) from 2003 to 2006, National Vice Chairman (Acting) United People’s Party (UPP) from 2002 to 2004
From 1999 to 2001, Minister Nyenpan served as Civil Engineer and Program Specialist Rehabilitation and Construction Services International Foundation for Education and Self-Help IFESH-USAID Project. In 1998 he served as Resident Civil Engineer at the United Nations Office Bong & Nimba counties for Project Services (UNOPS).
In 1995-1997 he served as Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services at the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), in 1994-1995 served as Director Technical Services Department at the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC).
In 1993 to 1994 Minister Nyenpan served at the MCC as Director of Sanitation and Environmental Health Department and Special Assistant to the Mayor of the Monrovia City Corporation from 1992 to 1993. In
1990-1991 he served as Vice Chairman and Spokesman on the Executive Committee, Liberian Refugees in Ghana, Buduburam, Gomoa, Central Region Republic of Ghana,
1988-1989 instructor (Senior High Division) (Mathematics, Physics, English) Nathan E. Gibson High School Paynesville, Liberia.
