Montserrado County senatorial aspirant wants Liberian leaders commit their service to the growth and development of the country.
Aspirant Mark Keshen stated that the growth and development of Liberia has been hindered due to lack of commitment on the part of its leaders.
Keshen made the assertion during a program marking the University of Liberia Student Union (ULSU) scholarship fund raising program held the auditorium of the University of Liberia on Capitol Hill at the weekend.
He noted that some Liberians seek political offices promising to change the living condition of the people, but they fail to address the people’s plight when in office.
The aspirant stressed that the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) government has included the mixture of officials of late Presidents William R. Tolbert and Samuel Doe, and former Presidents Charles Taylor and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to help transform the nation and the lives of its people.
Keshen maintained that those who have been given the opportunity to serve in the government should put the interest of the people first rather than their personal ambitions.
According to him, the student community should embrace the government and participate fully in its governance process.
It can be recalled that the National Elections Commission (NEC) postponed the Montserrado and Bong counties senatorial by-election scheduled for May 9 as result of lack of money to conduct the elections.
