Man Found Guilty in Retrial of Killing of Queens Runner Karina Vetrano
By Spectrum News Staff |
A man was found guilty on all charges Monday night in his retrial in the killing of a runner in a Queens park in 2016.
Chanel Lewis was accused of strangling and sexually assaulting Karina Vetrano while she was out for a run near her Howard Beach home in August 2016.
The first trial ended in a hung jury in November.
Prosecutors had contended that Lewis confessed to the killing, but defense attorneys have always maintained he was coerced by police.
The NYPD said DNA evidence led them to Lewis.
