When it was publicly reported widely that the Chief spokesman of the Liberian Government, Lenn Eugene Nagbe was tested positive of the deadly Coronavirus and was been placed under quarantine at the 14th Military Hospital, many though his promulgation of the Liberian government policy would have been halted or cease due to the illness, but instead it is to the opposite.
Some Liberians who spoke to the GNN Monday, May 11, 2020, said they are indeed amazed to listen to the Information Minister noting that the declaration been made by Minister Nagbe in his sick bed gave them the hope that this virus is not a ‘Death Sentence’, and further agreed with him that once all the necessary protocols observed there’s hope for the survival of its victims.
“Minister Eugene Nagbe for me should be considered as a committed public servant, who has always made himself available to speak to the Liberian people the danger this virus poses to the human existence, and explaining his own experiences in combating it, is worth commendable,” D. Nathaniel James, a resident of central Monrovia speaking to our staff said.
Like James, others are saying the same thing pouring praises on Minister Nagbe’s commitment to doing his job as the Chief spokesman of the Liberian government by informing the Liberian people on the prevention of COVID-19, erasing the facts that it is a death sentence, calling on all Liberians to abide by all the advises provided by health authorities for its prevention.
“Minister Nagbe would have been quiet while undergoing his treatment in his quarantined hospital bed due to the seriousness of his illness, but rather decided to repeatedly inform the world and the Liberian populace that COVID-19 is not a death sentence, is indeed a laudable undertaken on his part. I appreciate him for that,” Helen Toh, a resident of Paynesville in a chat with the GNN asserted.
Minister Nagbe who has been in his quarantined 14th Military Hospital bed over the past weeks after he was tested of the deadly COVID-19 has been speaking to the public via mobile phone to local radio stations on the danger this disease poses, and further advised all Liberians and foreign residents to abide by all health protocols announced by Liberian health authorities.
