Dozens of Liberians who spoke on local radio stations in Monrovia have publicly condemned recent attacks on officials of the Collaborating Political Parties who stopped over in Zwedru from Maryland and Rivergee Counties by dozens of young people requesting the officials to immediately leave their county.
Speaking further via telephoning in program on some local radio stations, callers said the Superintendent of the County, Kai Farley is in the know of what really took that fateful Thursday morning, July 29, 2020 when dozens of youths stormed the guest house of the visitors (Alexander Cummings of the CPP and Montserrado County District # 10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah) with anti-slogans demanding that the leave Zwedru with immediate effect, a situation that led to public outcry.
Justifying the role of the youths of the County, Superintendent Farley speaking to a local radio station via mobile phone confirmed the action of the youths, and said the CPP delegation did not inform his office of their visit in the county, noting that, “It is always a tradition that any politician who arrives here must seek the permission of my office. The CPP officials did not inform us of their visit here,” Superintendent Farley boastfully said on the radio.
This statement on the part of the Grand Gedeh Superintendent, clearly confirmed that the decision of the youths of the county to attack the CPP officials including Alexander Benedict Cummings, head of the CPP, and also political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and an executive of the CPP, and Montserrado County District # 10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah that the Superintendent may have been the main person behind the attack on the CPP official at their guest house.
As a result of this ugly situation, prominent sons of the county, Representative Alex Grant of Grand Gedeh County, and Samuel K. Doe, Jr., son of the late President Samuel K. Doe also condemned the action of their kinsmen by publicly attacking visitors who made a stopover in the County.
Representative Grant addressing a news conference called for the prosecution of those who were involved in the attack of the CPP official, and bring them to justice, while Samuel Doe Jr., denounced the action of the youths of the County, noting that his county was not of such, describing those who carry out the attack as hooligans who he said have no direction in their lives.
