LIBERIA: U.S. Embassy Issues Demonstration Alert

According to the alert, the U.S. Embassy near Monrovia said it has received reports of a protest blocking traffic on the St. Paul River Bridge near the Brewerville area.

Vehicle traffic to and from Brewerville through Bushrod Island to Central Monrovia is currently impacted. Everyone should expect increased traffic, possible roadblocks and increased police presence which could impact travel.

Actions to Take:

Avoid the areas surrounding the demonstration locations.  Even peaceful demonstrations may turn violent.

Avoid large crowds.

Be aware of your surroundings.

Monitor local media for updates.

Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.

Keep a low profile.
