The College of Health Sciences at the Tubman University in Maryland County, southeastern Liberia last week successfully ended the 8th capping and batching program of the college with 41 students forming part of the program.
The colorful program was attended local government officials, partners in the sector including health administration, students, relatives and well-wishers amongst others witnessed the program which was held on the main campus of the University.
Addressing the program, the head of the nursing department, madam Lydia Wortee-Johnson, in a rather joyous mood, expressed gratitude to the administration of the University for given her the opportunity and trust to lead the way to transform the lives of students in the area of health sciences.
She used the occasion to happily present the honorees to the Dean of the college of health sciences and the sciences board of Liia, and further lamented that both the nurses and midwifery departments are prepared to nurture more students who are desirous of becoming productive and skilled healthcare professionals.
Speaking on the theme” Developing Nurses Caring Hands that lead and transform” the Guest of the Day, Mr. Daniel Maweu said, nurses are natural innovators and they have the power to restore hope to their patients during their difficult times.
He further mentioned that such can only be done if nurses in Liberia demonstrate a high level of Maturity and professionalism at their respective health facilities. He explained that nurses should think out of the box and give their patients the best health care service.
“Don’t be complacent with this achievement, prepare yourself for a specialized field in the health sector, Liberia needs trained and specialized health workers, go out and be a problem solver, pay attention to your duty, respect your patients and supervisors, read more and be self-discipline, above all establish a good working relationship with the community people,” the Guest Speaker told the students.
