LIBERIA: Police Releases Preliminary Report On Alleged Rape Victim Who Later Died
The Liberia National Police is investigating an alleged rape case involving a 15 year old victim.
On January 20, 2022, the guardian of the victim reported to the Women and Children Protection Section of the Liberia National Police an alleged sexual abused by the suspect. The alleged abuse was said to have been carried out on January 11, 2022.
Immediately upon receipt of said complaint, the suspect, Prince Massaquoi, 33 years old, and a resident of Camp Johnson Road was arrested and is currently being investigated at the Women and Children Protection Section of the Liberia National Police.
The victim was taken to the John F. Kennedy Medical hospital, where she was being treated, but has unfortunately died.
The hospital is now determining the cause of death and whether it is linked to the victim being sexually abused.
JFK authority is expected later today to release the cause of death.
The public will be duly updated on the cause of death, as released by the John F. Kennedy Hospital, pending consent from the family.
Members of the public are urged to remain calm as all is being done to ensure that justice is served the family of the victim and all concerned.
A press stated posted on the Liberia National Police social media page and signed by the head of Press and Public Affairs, H. Moses Carter, Sr. added.
