LIBERIA: Police Clarifies L$3 Million Arrest Rumor
The Liberia National police (LNP) has clarified that it has not arrested nor confiscated L$3,000,000 from anyone in Duport Road as is being rumoured in Monrovia.
Addressing the Ministry of Information regular press briefing recently, Police spokesman Moses Carter pointed out that the LNP is not aware of any money confiscation that took place at Duport Junction on last Wednesday night.
During the evening hours of Wednesday, the information of L$3,000,000 being arrested by the LNP at the Duport Road junction inundated Facebook and other social media outlets as well as street corners and intellectual centers in and around Monrovia.
“Whoever posted that information on Facebook must have manufactured it; the information is false and misleading,” Carter pointed out.
He indicated that if there is any authentic information that the public should rely on about the LNP should be those from his office or the office of the Inspector General.
Meanwhile, he is urging the public to be mindful of the information they share on social media.
