LIBERIA: Nimba County Inspector Hails AcelorMittal’s Role as a ‘True Partner’

The County Inspector for Nimba has recognized ArcelorMittal Liberia as true partner and called on the citizens to help protect the company’s investment.
Inspector B. Mac Gblinwon speaking at a one-day AML Phase-II Expansion Project community awareness in Ganta told Nimba D-9 TV that Mount Nimba which belongs to the people and the government has become beneficiary to the entire nation.
He acknowledged AML’s role as “a true partner” who is always ready to get involved with key community development initiatives.
“This is why Nimba continues to benefit more from the allocations amongst the three affected counties (Bassa, Bong and Grand Bassa).
The county inspector said, “we appreciate for example Mittal for the support to our county team, but we are calling on AML to add up Nimba support from the initial as per the allocation in the County Social Development Fund”.
“It is good that others like Women Empowerment Forum Liberia from the Civil Society will decide to come and educate all of us as per the activities and benefits of AML Phase-II Expansion” he said.
According to Inspector Gblinwon believes if the government appointed officials were to carry the message to AML development initiatives to the people, “the public would have said we have been bought”
“We are very grateful to Women Empowerment Forum Liberia-WEFL for this wonderful awareness,” said Hon Gblinwon who later added “as you can see the cap on my head, the just ended Nimba County Inter Electoral League was sponsored by AML with caps, T-Shirts, all distributed”.
In another development, the county Inspector announced the construction of a modern office complex in Sanniquellie City for people with dyabilities with funding from ArcelorMittal’s County Social Development Fund.
Also speaking at the event was Nimba County Chapter Civil Society Organization Secretary General who appreciated AML for allowing a civil society organization based in Nimba to carry out the awareness.
“These are some of the interventions we want to see coming forth from Mittal. Get the Civil Society Organizations of the affected counties involve in all your activities as way of strengthening the partnership”.
The Secretary General of the Disabled community of Nimba Gabriel Sow, Madame Musu Kardame President of Gompa City Concern women, the student community, and youth leaders made remarks at the AML Phase Two information sharing dialogue.
Madame Laura Bee Kiekpo, Executive Director of Women Empowerment Forum Liberia-WEFL appreciated all for the successful and interaction promising to move into Sanniquellie, Gbapa, Karnplay and Yekepa respectively.
