The Center for the Promotion of Intellectual Development (CENPID), has expressed Consternation and dismayed that the composition of the National Taskforce for Food distribution did not include the National Disaster Management Agency, the Liberia National Red Cross Society and the Faith Based Organizations – like Lutheran World Service and Catholic Relief Agency etc.
In a release issued today, CENPID is appealing to the President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Dr. George M. Weah to act with deliberate speed to include the National Disaster Management Agency, the Liberia National Red Cross Society and the Faith Based Organizations for the sake of transparency and accountability in the distribution of food across the country.
In the same vain, CENPID also expressed disappointment and frustration in the recent Joint Resolution of the National Legislature prioritized the bogus payment of Marketeers Loan over the welfare of national health workers currently combating the COVID19 pandemic.
CENPID therefore, calls on the authorities of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), to act quickly in the setting-up robust testing centers to high-risk communities so as to reduce the growing upsurge in the current fatality rate of COVID19 around the country.
