LIBERIA: Ex-Rebel Generals Apologize, Regret Threatening Statements Made Against Rep. Yekeh Kolubah
Several Ex-Generals of Liberia defunct warring factions on Thursday apologized for threatening comments made against Rep. Yekeh Kolubah earlier this week in Monrovia.
On Tuesday, the group of Ex- rebel Generals during a press conference in Monrovia, gave Montserrado County District #10 Representative Hon. Yekeh Kolubah a 72-hr ultimatum to report to them, or face their wrath.
In response to the Generals demands, Hon. Kolubah who himself is a former rebel General challenged the group of Ex-rebel Generals, an action many observers say was brewing chaos.
However, a ten-men delegation at the office of Montserrado County Attorney Edwin Martin on Thursday, the Ex-rebel Generals through their spokesman Augustine Nagbe, alias, βGeneral Powerβ told journalists that they did not mean any harm by their utterances.
Nagbe apologized on behalf of he and his colleagues and assured the public that the Ex-Generals and the Montserrado District #10 lawmaker will coexist peacefully.
Meanwhile, Cllr. Martin speaking during the press conference told journalists that the Ex-rebel Generals and Hon. Kolubah have been friends for many years and that the statement they issued earlier was only meant to provide an avenue to warn the lawmaker.
In the meantime, the Monsterrado County Attorney reminded Hon. Kolubah that he is not above the law and should submit himself to authorities to provide clarity on his statements made on Sunday April 14, 2019.
βIf the Ex-generals were disrespectful, they would not have visited the County Attorney to make clarity or retract their statement,β Cllr. Martin said.
