Liberia Development Conference Anthology Launch

The United States Agency for International Development, the Embassy of Sweden and the University of Liberia will on Thursday, February 8, 2018, launch the Liberia Development Conference Anthology.  U.S. Ambassador to Liberia Christine Elder, other members of the Diplomatic Corps, and officials of the Government of Liberia are expected to attend the ceremony.

The Anthology is a compilation of 39 analytical papers that discuss Liberia’s development challenges and opportunities.  Each paper takes a particular development challenge Liberia faces, such as promoting private sector competitiveness, barriers to universal health coverage, and youth empowerment, and objectively analyses its causes and effects, and then sets forth concrete proposals for solving it.

The papers, written primarily by Liberians, were presented and discussed at the first-ever Liberia Development Conference held in Monrovia February 1- 2, 2017.  The conference was attended by more than 400 people, representing state institutions, academia, civil society organizations, the private sector, international organizations, and Liberia’s development partners and donors, who discussed potential solutions to Liberia’s complex development challenges.

Media representatives are invited to cover the event at the Bella Casa Hotel beginning at 9:00 a.m.
