STUDENT BEING FLOGGED

SINJE TOWN, (LINA) Police in Grand Cape Mount County have forwarded to court an Arabic teacher for allegedly torturing his 11-year-old pupil.

The incident occurred in Kangar Town, Garwula District in Grand Cape Mount County on July 8.

The teacher identified as Siafa Fahnbulleh allegedly lighted a fire and placed the feet and hands of little Saidu Fahnbulleh over it, leading to severe burning of the parts of the boy’s body.

According to the victim, the teacher, who is also his uncle, flogged him before perpetrating the gruesome act against him.

The boy disclosed that the teacher’s action against him was prompted by an accusation that he stole meat from the food in the house.

Upon committing the act against the boy, the teacher allegedly took him to an unknown destination and left him there from Monday, July 8, to Thursday, July 11, from where he was taken back to town by a passerby.

The victim is currently undergoing traditional treatment, but it has been advised that he seeks advanced medical treatment in Monrovia.

Eleven year-old Saidu is an orphan. He lost his mother during the 2014 Ebola outbreak, and in 2018, a tree fell on his father and killed him instantly along the Kinjor Road in the district.
