Dozens of students who stormed the headquarters of the Liberia Board of Nursing and Midwifery with the desire to of being certify nurses and midwifery say they are finding it very difficult to understand why is it that the Barshell University is yet to be accredited by the LBNM.
Sources closed to the University College hinted the GNN that despite the reported payment of Five Thousand United Dollars was allegedly made to the LBNM in 2020 regarding the accreditation of the institution, the LBNM is yet to state why the delay, a source at the University told our reporter.
Some of the students of the University who spoke to our reporter over the weekend expressed frustration over the delay by the Liberia Board of Nursing and Midwifery, noting that it is worrisome for their desired dream to be halted.
As a result of the delay of the institution’s accreditation by the LBNM, dozens of students of the University who are doing nursing staged a daylong protest on the campus of the University last Wednesday calling for the resignation of both the LBNM Board Chair, Mr. J. Humphery Gibbs Loweal and the Registrar of the LBNM, Madam Cecelia Kpankpala Flomo.
According to GNN investigation, Mr. Loweal is currently the head of the Phebe School of Nursing and Midwifery, while Mrs. Flomo serves as head of the Duja School of Nursing and Midwifery, a situation that pondered many as to why they are allegedly denying the Barshell University accreditation to run its nursing and midwifery programs.
Effort by the GNN to contact the Chairman of the LBNM, J. Humphrey Gibbs Loweal did not materialized over the weekend, however investigation continues.
