LIBERIA: As ArcelorMittal Begins Payment, Former Aggrieved Workers Issue Statement

Flash Back: Redundant ArcelorMittal Employees Call Off Protests After Meeting with Internal Affairs Minister | The Bush Chicken

Firstly, we the former aggrieved workers of ArcelorMittal want to say a big thank you to our President, His Excellency President George Manneh Weah for his timely intervention in ensuring that we the former aggrieved workers be giving what is rightfully ours. President Weah have shown us that he cares about for citizens of Nimba and that of Grand Bassa County.

Today, Thursday October 7th 2021, we the former aggrieved workers of ArcelorMittal finally started receiving our well-deserved payments. Our people have suffered for so long. They have cried for more than 5 years for justice and at last, it was rendered. Without President Weah’s intervention, it would never have been possible. Thank you our president.

We also like to thank ArcelorMittal and it’s management for their honesty in doing right by us. It was not easy to reach this settlement. But both the former workers and AML decided to put peace first.  Although, we believe we deserve more than what we are getting, we accepted what AML offered us for the sick of peace and tomorrow’s relationship.

Finally, we want to thank the Minister of Labor and his team, National Bureue of Concessions and the Ministry Justice for their hard work in helping us reach this settlement.

God bless you all and God bless Mama Liberia.
