Lawmaker Recognizes Sime Darby Vibrancy

In an effort to cement harmonious relationship in Bomi electoral district number one  and the concession areas where Sime Darby Plantation Liberia (SDPL) operates, Representative Edwin Melvin Snowe has invited the company to form part of the District Development Council (DDC).

The Unity Party (UP) stalwart believes that it takes team work to build a vibrant society where everyone sees his or herself as part of the process leading to development.

The Bomi county lawmaker has meanwhile concluded with his staffers to constitute the council that will solely focus on the Developmental activities of the District.

Institutions and communities that will form part of the council include the Motorcyclists Union, Drivers Union, Religious Community, Youth and Students movements, Chiefs and women groupings, Disabled community Gbah and Sime Darby, Rural Senjeh, Tubmanburg and Civil Society Organizations.

The aforesaid institutions are allowed to select or elect their members to the council. The process has already begun with the civil society organizations taking the lead in consultation with the District Coordinator. This is the first of its kind for such union to be set up in that county.

In another development, Representative Snowe has reaffirmed his support to building the human resource capacity by offering 35 scholarships to the Bomi County Community College with immediate effect.

The veteran Public Administrator  believes that a project or development matters when the people themselves desire; something that propelled his decision to form the Council.

The then Montserrado County district number six Representative has mandated his office through Edwin Miller and Adama Seh, Chief of Office Staffs and Administrative Assistant respectively to derive criteria for said scholarships.
