Criminal Court ‘C’ at the Temple of Justice on Capitol Hill in Monrovia has finally released the last batch of the indicted Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) officials who were recently detained at the Monrovia Central Prison by the Liberian Government for their alleged involvement of the printing of excess Liberian banknote in the amount of LD2.6 billion.
Defendants Dorbor Hagba, and Joseph G. Dennis were released during the late evening hour of March 11, 2019, due to the proper checking, viewing and analyzing the “Property Value of the Bond” by Bioma Kontoe while Richard Walker was released on March 12, 2019.
The monetary value of the “Property Valuation Bond” is being put at US$60,000.00 (Sixty Thousand United States Dollars) for each of the indictees to be released. The bond in question was filed by the Accident and Casualty Insurance Company, Incorporated in Monrovia.
Hagba, Dennis and Walker alone with ex-Governor, Milton Weeks and Deputy Governor Charles Sirleaf were arrested and charged with multiple criminal offenses including Economic Sabotage, Criminal Conspiracy and Criminal Facilitation.
They were last sent to the Monrovia Central Prison until their criminal appearance bond can be made available since the crimes they are accused of are billable under the Liberian law. After verifying the bond, Judge Kontoe than granted the bond and ordered their release from prison.
The indictees were also ordered to turn over their passports or any other traveling documents to the court, they were also warned not to leave Montserrado County, and should as well appear before the court twice a month.
