Jefferson Koijee Declares Wanted For ‘Crimes Against Humanity’

A local daily, the Hot Pepper Newspaper has reported that the youthful Mayor of the City of Monrovia and confidant of President George Manneh Weah, Jefferson Koijee has been declared as a wanted man, quoting a United States based ‘War crimes investigators’ for his alleged crimes committed against humanity recently in Monrovia.

The paper quoting sources from Washington, the United States said the war crimes investigative team that was briefly in Monrovia to gather evidences of the allegations leveled against the Monrovia City Mayor left the Country few days ago for based in Washington to submit their report which will eventually lead to the arrest of the Mayor.

According to the paper quoting its Washington source, also hinted that the administration of President George Weah is being investigated for economic crimes, and with the investigation of Koijee as an individual it could also be included for crimes against humanity.

The Monrovia City Mayor is being investigated for the November 17, 2018 riot when supporters of the ruling CDC clashed with supporters of the unity Party (UP), the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and the Liberty Party (LP) which led to a ‘bloodbath’ when dozens got wounded.

The clash occurred when the constants in a by-election to replace former Representative Saah Joseph of District #13, Montserrado County who was elected as Senator of the County during the final day of the constestants’ rallies to end the campaign for the polling on November 20, 2018.

During the by-election, the ANC and LP did not put forth any contestant en constants, however, as a result of collaborative efforts, both political parties; the ANC and LP joined forces to support the Unity Party candidate, Mrs. Cornelia Kruah-Togbah.

The CDC candidate in the race was John Weah (No relationship with President Weah), and at the end one of the independent candidate, Mr. Edward Papay Flomo, alias  Color Green won the election beating John Weah who was being support by President Weah during the beginning of the campaign.

According to eye witnesses, the clash took place when Mayor Koijee who led a team of the CDC youth league who went over to witness the campaign of their candidate (John Weah) at the Iron Factory in Gardnerville; a National Elections Commission designated area of John Weah’s campaign rally invaded the designated rally site on the New Georgia road of the Unity Party’s candidate, Mrs. Cornelia Kruah-Togbah.

This, according to eye witnesses, a fighting started with several supporters of the UP, ANC and LP being wounded seriously as some were taken to local health centers for emergency treatment, while a female supporter of Mrs. Kruah-Togbah was allegedly  reported stabbed and killed, however  it was later denied that there was no death noticed during the fracas.

However, a source from Washington disclosed that during the visit of investigators in Monrovia, Mayor Koijee was investigated, and also took with them video recordings  of Koijee’s men carrying cutlasses wounding supporters of the opposition, and further spoke to people of interest  gathering enough evidence on what actually happened on that fateful day, Saturday, November 17, 2018.
