“It Is No Crime To Do PRO For Gov’t” – Philipbert Browne Declares
The publisher of the Hot Pepper Newspaper, Mr. Philipbert Browne, a onetime critic of the George Weah’s led government, and very good friend of the Publisher of this outlet has angrily responded to an article published on September 10, 2019 on www.gnnliberia.com captioned: ‘Philipbert Browne Becomes PRO For Gov’t – Calls Meeting For Select Media Executives, While Others Expressing Disillusion’, noting that it is no crime to render public relations services for government.
According GNN source, yesterday’s meeting under the sponsorship of the Long Stone Media Consultancy owned by Mr. Browne was held at his (Mr. Browne’s) private office which brought together ’a select’ group of publishers and editors, angered many of those publishers and editors who were not invited.
As a result, the Chat Room of the Publisher Association of Liberia (PAL) was overly congested with comments and reactions from journalists, many of whom who felt isolated of such called meeting by Mr. Browne’s media entity, with many condemning the action on the part of Mr. Browne and his Long Stone Media Consultancy firm.
But rather in his reaction, Mr. Browne instead took up time to bring the Publisher of the GNN, Joel Cholo Brooks to public mockery, stressing that because he (Mr. Brooks) was not invited to the forum, he took up time to write what he (Mr. Browne) called “All this about me”. He further described the Publisher of the widely browse website: www.gnnliberia.com (Cholo Brooks) to not be a publisher, which justifies Mr. Browne to leave him out.
Mr. Browne in his reaction also described the Publisher of the www.gnnliberia.com, Mr. Cholo Brooks who previously operated three weekly newspaper, The Monrovia Weekend in the early 1980s, the Star in the late 2000s and the GNN-Liberia ‘hard copy’ newspapers, and now its online platform as a non-Publisher.
Concluding on his attack on Mr. Brooks, Browne also said he feels his (Brooks) pains because breakfast and lunch were served during the forum. This shows that Browne is of words to explain to his media colleagues while a select group of media professionals were invited instead of all.
-A good day my dear brother, we must set the pace that would generally make the sector viable instead of picking and choosing.
