Israel Strikes Gaza Hours After Rockets Fired at Tel Aviv

Hamas told Egypt earlier on Saturday that a disproportionate response would lead to escalation

Israel attacked targets in Gaza early on Sunday, hours after two rockets were fired from the Hamas-controlled enclave at Israel but fell into the Mediterranean Sea, according to the Israeli army.

The army’s statement said that the Israel Defense Forces aircraft attacked several terror targets at a Hamas rocket manufacturing site, in addition to Hamas military posts that were attacked with artillery fire.

The statement added that the scope and type of targets were attacked as a response to the rockets fired at Israel from Gaza earlier on Saturday.

“The terrorist organization Hamas is responsible for what is happening in the Gaza Strip and bears the consequences of terrorist acts there.”

As fireworks lit up the skies to celebrate #NewYear2022 around the world, a different type of fire came from Gaza—terrorist rocket-fire toward Israel.
