In an effort to combat the spread of the deadly COVID-19 in Grand Kru County, the county Health Team with support from the Samaritan purse say it has embarked on training contact tracers in the county.
According to our Correspondent, the first training took place at the Saver Key Guest House in the Camp Three Community over the weekend at the Barclayville health district.
The training which brought together over 20 community health assistances is aimed at training contact tracers who will be able to detect or discover any confirmed cases of the virus or who have been tested positive.
According to the Grand county health surveillance officer, Jimmy Lawobah the training is intended to train contact tracers across the county who will be able to carry out their work successfully during their period of their respective assignments.
The Grand Kru County Health Surveillance Officer, Jamey Lawobah speaking to the GNN added that the contact tracing training will cover the entire health districts in the county, and further urged health contact tracers to carry out active contact tracing in the county that will aid the county health Team to fight against COVID-19.
Currently, the County confirmed cases of the virus is said to be on the increase, has more cases have been registered in the county at 12, as the County Health Surveillance Officer Jamey Lawobah, ex[pressed thanks to The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH or GIZ, a German development agency headquartered in Bonn and Eschborn that provides services in the field of international development cooperation.
For his part, the Executive Director of GIZ, Tanja Gönner said his institution’s support to the County is aimed at promoting the efforts of the County health team, especially in the fight against coronavirus.
