The Parents Teacher Association (PTA) of the Government run Dolokelen Gboveh High School in Gbarnga, Bong County has expressed total disenchantment over the Ministry of Education recent supply to the school.
The Gboveh PTA said the Ministry of Education was able to presents: one park of pen, one park Mark, one duster, four cartoons range of sheets, thirty teacher roll books, fifty parks of crayon and thirty teacher lecture books to the school.
In an exclusive interview with this paper recently in Bong County; The Parents Teacher Association (PTA) Chairman of the Dolokelen Gboveh High School, Mr. Sam B. Elliot described the donation as derision to education in the Country.
According to him if the mother school (Dolokelen Gboveh High) in Bong County can get such a supplies then what will happen to the rest of the schools in the county especially in various districts of the County.
Mr. Elliot said the Dolokelen Gboveh High School is confronted with many challenges reaching from a state of deplorable condition and the lack of chairs for students remains a major challenge.
“the institution has fifty (50) teachers and the ministry is giving one park of pan and in that park there is 24 pieces of pan, so what the rest of the teachers will be using? Again giving one duster to the school, so which one of the teacher will use the one duster?” Chairman Elliot stressed.
Dolokelen Gboveh was established in 1957 as a high school in the county which pays attention to over thousands of students’ very academic year in Bong County.
The tough talking Gboveh PTA Chairman said even though some of the damaging chairs have been repaired by the Parents Teacher Association of the school, but the situation is said to be turning worse as an estimated number of more than two hundred students are loitering the corridor of the school as a result of chairs shortage.
According to him, students have been standing up writing, which they described as serious embarrassment and deplorable situation for the students learning process.
He put the estimated number of students that are attending the school as over one thousand five hundred.
He said in other to fine remedy to the problem they and the administration has decided to run two sections, adding 11th grade and 12th grade goes in the morning, while 10th grade goes in the afternoon.
He at the same time maintained that young people in the County are eager of quality education; as such MOE should urgently intervene and reconsider their supply for the sake of the students in other to create conductive atmosphere for learning.
Chairman Elliot also used the medium to disclose that besides the lack of chairs, there are series of problems currently at the school ranging from the laboratory which he said it has no equipment and also pointing at the lack of books at the library.
