A 55-year-old New Jersey man being sought by Pennsylvania authorities for his alleged role in the sex trafficking of children was arrested at his Bergen County home earlier this week, officials said.

Kevin J. Newell, of Maywood, was considered a fugitive before being taken into custody Tuesday following a months-long investigation that involved Homeland Security Investigations, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

Newell is charged in Pennsylvania with trafficking in individuals, trafficking in minors, unlawful contact with a minor, depicting a child sex act and criminal use of a communication facility.

He was being held at the Bergen County jail pending extradition to Pennsylvania.

Police in North Strabane, Pennsylvania, about 20 miles southwest of Pittsburgh worked with Homeland Security before Maywod police and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s office became involved.
